Pro Football Focus sent out a positive number on Jets linebacker Darron Lee.

PFF hasn’t had much good to say about Lee even going back to his college days so it is nice to see he fares well in at least one of its metrics.
This one number aside, I don’t think PFF’s general negativity for Lee is totally unfair. His rookie year was uneven at best. There were too many instances against the run where he overpursued or filled the wrong gap, which wouldn’t be reflected in the number posted above.
With that said, I’m not sure I agree with those who suggest his season was a total washout. I thought there were plays where he flashed and stretches where he showed genuine promise.
Was Lee good as a rookie? I say no. Was this totally unexpected? I think he was always going to be a bit of a project. Should this concern Jets fans? You always should have some concern if the guy doesn’t look good as a rookie. Are there still reasons for hope? I think so.
