Why Jets S Jamal Adams can live up to the hype

Many Jets fans are not excited about the 2017 season. You can count me as one of them. In some ways I view the 2017 season as a necessary evil to get the team to 2018 and beyond. I think it would be fair to say the team’s current roster is not looking so good. In fact, I think that might be an understatement.

A team doesn’t necessarily need to be championship caliber to generate excitement. You might be able to relate to that if you are a Yankees fan this year. The team has exceeded expectations, but even in its current rough stretch, the team is exciting to watch because there is a lot of highly regarded young talent.

That unfortunately doesn’t seem to describe where the Jets are at the moment. The team did get younger in the offseason, but its talent level is unproven and generally not highly regarded.

Jamal Adams is one of the few exceptions to this. Almost everybody had the LSU product as a blue chip prospect and one of the top three players in this year’s Draft class. Many prognosticators think he has the ability to be a perennial Pro Bowl type player. His contributions might go beyond that, though. People around the LSU program raved about the intangibles he brought including leadership and the ability to get people lined up correctly.

I am very excited to see what Adams can bring to the table.

Which Jets player has you most excited in 2017?
