NFL Executive: Jets Have the Worst NFL Roster in a Decade

NFL: New York Jets-OTA Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Dan Jeremiah passes along something an NFL executive told him.

The 2008 Lions who finished 0-16 took the field less than a decade ago so clearly there is a bit of hyperbole here. As bad as things look, it still would be a major surprise to see the Jets match that feat.

Things certainly don’t look good in the short run for the Jets, though. It was tough to figure out a path to the Jets being a decent team even while David Harris and Eric Decker were on the squad. Without them it doesn’t even feel like a viable possibility to me. Decker’s departure in particular feels like a move that locks the Jets in as one of the worst offenses in the NFL.

Maybe the goal is to put the worst team possible on the field to try and draft a quarterback. We can’t rule that out at this point. The near future certainly doesn’t look stellar, though.
