The Jets signed Patton earlier in the offseason. The team did not announce exactly what his injury was, but Patton’s 2017 is over before it began. The 2013 fourth round pick likely faced an uphill battle to make the roster. The Jets have added numerous young wide receivers to the roster over the last few years. It isn’t clear how much upside these youngsters have, but it is likely more than Patton has shown. Patton has never even recorded a 40 reception season after four years in the league. I had been saying it would be a disappointing commentary on the young receivers if Patton made the roster.
Street is likely a camp body in a similar mold. The Jets are already his fourth NFL organization after spending time with Dallas, Indianapolis, and New England.
