Our Jets roster countdown continues with a look at Anthony Johnson.
Name: Anthony Johnson
Number: 75
Year with Jets: 2nd
Projected Role: Competing for backup defensive line spot
His 2016: Johnson was originally signed by Washington but was waived in May. New England picked him up. Johnson made the roster initially but was let go in September and signed to the Patriots practice squad. The Jets signed him to their roster in October. He appeared in limited action for the Jets in 7 games. Johnson registered 4 tackles in that time.
2017 will be a success if: Johnson can hold onto a roster spot as a backup defensive linemen. There aren’t a whole lot of available spots at the moment so that would be an accomplishment. There isn’t an obvious path to a starting job, and he will likely not be eligible for the practice squad.
Odds of making the roster: Unlikely (25-50%)
