Our Jets 2017 roster countdown moves on as we look at Brent Qvale.

Name: Brent Qvale

Number: 79

Year with Jets: 4th

Projected Role: Backup tackle and guard

His 2016: Injuries on the offensive line forced Qvale into the lineup for significant playing time at tackle and guard. He replaced injured starters like Breno Giacomini and Brian Winters at various points during the season. He drew the most attention for splitting snaps with Ben Ijalana at right tackle at the start of the season. As was the case with Ijalana, Qvale looked like a fringe backup type rather than a quality starter in the first significant action of his career.

2017 will be a success if: Qvale can develop a bit and give the Jets a quality backup at multiple positions. While his 2016 play wasn’t catastrophic, I’m still not comfortable with the idea of Qvale playing major snaps for this team again unless he improves a bit.

Odds of making the roster: More likely than not (50-75%)
