Our countdown of the Jets roster continues today with Brian Parker.
Name: Brian Parker
Number: 82
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: competing for a backup tight end roster spot
His 2016: Parker spent training camp and the preseason with the Chiefs, but he did not make their roster. He was claimed off waivers by the tight end needy Jets, but he was waived again after failing his physical. The Jets gave Parker another opportunity by signing him in April. He has a chance to show what he can do.
2017 will be a success if: Parker can make the team and carve out a role as a blocking tight end. At 6’4” 265 pounds, he has the frame to do the job effectively. The Jets also have an opening. With their top two tight ends profiling as pass catchers, the opportunity is there. Parker might be battling Eric Tomlinson for the last roster spot at the position.
Odds of making the roster: 50/50
