Do You Approve Of The Calvin Pryor Trade?

Scott R. Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets have reportedly traded safety Calvin Pryor to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for linebacker Demario Davis.  By doing so the Jets have added approximately 4 years of age in the exchange.  They have also added approximately $3.3 million in net cap charge.

Both players are slated to become unrestricted free agents after the 2017 season.  Simply cutting Pryor would have resulted in roughly zero net change in cap space for the Jets, after accounting for adding a minimal salary player at the back of the roster to replace him.  Waiting until the end of the season to let Pryor enter free agency might have netted the Jets a compensatory draft pick, depending on the demand for his services in 2018 and the level of signings the Jets make in 2018 free agency. Allowing Davis to enter free agency instead might also net the Jets a compensatory pick.

Given this situation, do you approve of this trade? Let us know in the poll and in your comments.
