On the day the rookies report for mini-camp, the Jets announced the signing of a veteran linebacker who appeared in 13 games for the green & white last year.
Carter was a 2nd round draft pick of the Cowboys in 2011 out of North Carolina.
The linebacker started 32 games with Dallas over the course of his 4 years there, his most productive seasons were his final two in Texas. In 2014, Carter recorded 68 tackles with 1 sack, 8 passes defensed and 5 interceptions.
In 2016, Carter appeared in 13 games with the games but only started one. He recorded 16 tackles with one pass defensed.
This is a solid back-up signing with the 29 year old playing on special teams and showing the ability to fill in at linebacker when needed.
