Potential Jets Draft Target Jamal Adams Dominates His Pro Day at LSU

NCAA Football: Louisiana State at Alabama John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Reports out of LSU’s pro day indicate safety Jamal Adams had an excellent day.

We haven’t talked a ton about pro day results here, but this one deserves mention. First, Adams is a potential Jets target in the Draft. Second, this is a pretty big improvement from the Combine, where Adams was timed at 4.56.

At the end of the day, I’m not sure how big of a deal this is. You always have to take pro day results with a grain of salt. I have read stories about how some schools have their 40 yard dash track subtly designed to go downhill rather than be level.

In this instance, people might finally look at Adams the right way, even if it’s for the wrong reasons. Adams didn’t dominate the Combine, but he wasn’t terrible. In his case, there is so much skill evident in his on field performance that I don’t think the Combine mattered a ton. If he had run a 4.9 in Indianapolis, it would be a different story. The 40 yard dash only tells you how fast a player can run 40 yards in shorts in a straight line. Adams is fast on the field doing football things. That matters to me more than his Combine and pro day.

Of course if Adams has truly locked in top five status, that means the Jets with the sixth pick will not land him.
