The offseason is a time where players can work on their game. There is an officially sanctioned timeframe where teams can practice with their coaches over the offseason. We now know the dates of the Jets’ offseason program.
First Day: April 17
OTA Offseason Workouts: May 23-25, May 30-31, June 1, June 5-8
Mandatory Minicamp: June 13-15
There are three phases of the offseason program. Phase one lasts two weeks and is limited to strength and conditioning and rehab. Phase two lasts three weeks. Players are allowed to do individual drills and receive instruction. There is no contact allowed, however, and no offense vs. defense drills. Phase three lasts four weeks. Teams are allowed to conduct 10 practices called OTAs. There is no contact allowed but 7 on 7, 9 on 7, and 11 on 11 drills are allowed. As part of phase three, teams are also allowed to hold one minicamp for veterans. The minicamp is the only mandatory part of the offseason program for players. Everything else is voluntary.
