Jets Draft Rumor: Team Interested in Malik Hooker and Jamal Adams?

NCAA Football: Fiesta Bowl-Ohio State vs Clemson Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Rich Cimini says the Jets are interested in both Malik Hooker and Jamal Adams.

Some late draft buzz on the Jets: Hearing that Ohio State S Malik Hooker is very much in play with the sixth pick, per source. They also like LSU S Jamal Adams, but he may not last to six. The interest in safeties may explain why the Jets have been non-committal on whether they will exercise the fifth-year option for S Calvin Pryor. The deadline is next Wednesday. Hooker is recovering from off-season hip and hernia surgeries, but there doesn't appear to be any concern.

I’m not sure I see how either guy would impact the decision on Pryor’s fifth year option. Pryor is under contract for 2017 no matter what the team does. The Jets either like Pryor enough to pick up the option, or they don’t. The money isn’t guaranteed so they could always move on if Adams or Hooker changed the long-term plans at the position.

There is no surprise here. Hooker and Adams are two of the consensus top players in this year’s class.
