Report: Jets Waive Five Players

Smackdad noted the other day that with over 80 players under contract, the Jets would likely need to part ways with some before the Draft to fit in a full class and undrafted free agents. Rich Cimini reports the team has waived five players.

The Jets have waived five players: RB Brandon Burks, WR Darius Jennings, LS Josh Latham, LB Jeff Luc and DL Julien Obioha. This puts the roster at 76, which gives them 14 openings for draft picks and undrafted free agents.

Obviously, these were not big name players. They were the guys at the bottom of a roster that had over 80 players. I do believe this brings the Jets down to two long snappers so that takes a bit of the juice out of the hot #LongSnapperCampBattle we have been anticipating.

Now down to 76 players, the Jets have room for their 7 picks and 7 undrafted free agents pending a trade up or down or more cuts.
