Jets To Sign Ben Ijalana On 2 Year $11 Mill Deal

The Jets were expecting to make Ben a priority, and that's exactly what's happened.

The Jets have made their first move by re-signing tackle Ben Ijalana

It may not be the sexiest move in the world, but the Jets have made a solid signing here with Ijalana.

Going into free agency, it was widely expected that the Jets would retain the services of Ben Ijalana and that's exactly what they've done.

A 2nd round pick of the Colts in 2011, Ijalana was plagued by injuries in Indianapolis. He tore his ACL in his rookie year, and again in 2012. After being waived injured, the Jets picked Ijalana up in September 2013, and he's been with the team ever since.

Ben filled in at left tackle last year after Ryan Clady went down with yet another injury. With Clady no longer on the roster, it seems as though Ijalana will get a chance to stake claim to the left tackle spot. At just 27 years old, it could be said that Ben's best football is ahead of him.

He can play both left tackle and right tackle and can even play inside at guard, so he offers the Jets a lot of versatility, which is never a bad thing.
