Today is the official first day of the new NFL year. It means the free agency period officially begins. Teams can officially sign players and make trades.

Many of those moves are formalities. Teams might have agreed to trades a while back. Players have been able to negotiate free agent deals for two days. Today those moves can become official.

There hasn’t been much news for the Jets. They have been linked with a number of players, but none are joining the team. Players many have speculated about for months like Brian Hoyer and Tony Jefferson are off the market. Reports indicate Mike Glennon and Nick Perry also might be.

It isn’t necessarily the worst thing in the world for the Jets to be quiet so far. Many of the moves you see will ultimately prove to be mistakes. It won’t make things easier for many fans, though, since the Jets need to upgrade their roster in many spots.

The GGN Twitter widget is embedded below to provide you updates through the day. It’s scary to think what the widget could make if it was ever a free agent.
