The NFL’s legal tampering period begins today. Teams are allowed to start talking to free agents.

This legal tampering period first started in 2013. The league saw that many teams were disregarding the rules and talking to free agents before free agency officially began. In response, the rules were changed to allow teams to communicate with free agents two days before the start of free agency. How does this stop teams from communicating before this two day legal tampering window? I couldn’t tell you. I’m just the messenger.

In recent years the NFL has tried to emphasize that teams are supposed to talk with players and not actually complete deals. Such decrees have proven both silly and unenforceable. If you are negotiating with a player, there is a chance you’ll strike a deal.

We might start hearing about some of the free agents coming off the board today. We certainly will hear rumors.

With that in mind, here is a live updates thread. Yes, that means the exciting return of the GGN Twitter widget. If you haven’t experienced the widget before, you are in for a real treat. It will provide live updates through the day.
