Deshaun Watson - 'Jets Would Be A Great Opportunity"

New, comments

It's unlikely that the Jets will go with a QB at number 6, but if they feel they've found a franchise guy, they have a duty to take him.

The Jets wasted little time bringing Deshaun Watson in for a formal interview at the scouting combine. The Clemson signal caller confirmed that he met with the Jets on the first night in Indianapolis. He had this to say about potentially being drafted by the Jets to play in New York:

I'm happy to play anywhere. The Jets is one of the team that decides to select me, then, hey, I'm cool with it. It would be a great opportunity for me to go up there and perform and build a career and build a name for myself.

If I were a QB, I'd really like the thought of joining the Jets (insert joke about the Jets being the place where QB's careers come to die here). With so little depth on the roster, any QB coming in will have the opportunity to compete straight out of the gate. With players like Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg, they'd probably fancy their chances as well.

The Jets are going to look and talk to a lot of prospects this weekend, but it's interesting to see that they targeted Watson as one of their first interviews. He'll take to the field tomorrow to work out with the other QB's, and he'll be looking to separate himself from the pack, even though Mitch Trubisky is expected to be drafted higher.
