Awards

Positives

  • Intelligence you look for at the center position.
  • As hard a worker as you'll find in college
  • Roster flexibility, has played all over the offensive line.
  • Shows good hand placement and strength.
  • Good athletic ability to block in space.
  • Patient in his blocks, doesn't whiff too often
  • Works to the 2nd level easily and efficiently.
  • Has made LSU line calls previously.

Negatives

  • Very tall for a center.
  • Doesn't always sink his hips into his blocks, plays tall.
  • Can get pushed back into the pocket on strong bullrush
  • Needs to work on his base to take run blocking to the next level.

Conclusion

The more I look at the offensive line talent in this draft the more I like it. Pocic will bring versatility, leadership and a natural athletic ability to whoever drafts him. He worked across the entire LSU offensive line and he made protection calls, which is a nice skill to have coming out of a tough SEC conference.

The concern with Pocic is that he can play quite tall, and at 6'6 he's bigger than a lot of centers, if you have a shorter QB, that could cause some problems. Saying that he is pretty adept at move blocking, blocking on screens, when pulling and at the second level, and if he has the intelligence to play center, he'll get drafted and I have no doubt he'll be a good pro.
