Thinking About the Raiders’ Move to Las Vegas from a Jets Perspective

New, comments
NFL: New York Jets at Oakland Raiders Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The big news from the NFL owners’ meetings on Monday was hardly unexpected. The league approved the relocation of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas. The vote was 31-1 with only the Dolphins disapproving.

Yet another dark day for the league is the topic of our podcast today. We will talk about the move. Disgrace is a word that comes to mind for me. We also will talk a bit about what it means from a Jets perspective. There are a few tangible impacts. The team does have a road game against the Raiders in 2017. It looks like the Raiders will be in Oakland in 2017 and perhaps longer before the move takes effect so that could be interesting.

The Jets and the Raiders also have a great history with a storied rivalry from the past. Although the Raiders already moved away from Oakland once, and the rivalry has cooled a bit, there is a bit of nostalgia with the franchise moving away from the Bay Area for good.
