Bucky Has Jets Drafting Defensive Line

New, comments

If Jonathan Allen falls to the Jets at 6, would they really pull the trigger on another defensive lineman.

We haven't featured a mock draft in at least a week, so I thought it was about time we dived straight back in. I decided to post this one up, because it was a selection we haven't really seen so far.

From Bucky Brooks at NFL.com

Here are the players off the board in this scenario:

  1. Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
  2. Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State
  3. Jamal Adams, S, LSU
  4. Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
  5. Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State

Considering this, he had the Jets selecting:

Jonathan Allen - DT, Alabama: Allen might not make sense on paper but his arrival could allow the Jets to trade Sheldon Richardson to acquire more playmakers on both sides of the ball.

Now I'm all for best player available. However drafting another defensive lineman would be extremely frustrating in my opinion. Allen is a fine player, but his arrival doesn't allow the Jets to trade Sheldon Richardson, the Jets could easily trade Sheldon Richardson right now with Wilkerson and Williams on the roster.

I don't think Allen makes the Jets significantly better. So I'm really not very fond of this selection. I'm sure Allen will make a good pro, but he doesn't get the Jets to where they want to be. I'd rather we roll the dice on someone like Fournette in this scenario, add a little identity to the offense.

What do you think Jets fans?
