The Jets weren't very active in the first wave of free agency, but the 2nd wave seems to be picking up a little bit of momentum.

The Jets have under utilised the tight end position in recent years, however they are expected to try and create more production from the position in 2017.

Rivera who's currently a free agent, was most recently with the Oakland Raiders. After being drafted in the 6th round out of Tennessee, Rivera has spent 4 years on the bay.

His career got off to a hot start, catching 38 passes for 407 yards and 4 TD's as a rookie. He followed that up with another impressive year in 2014, catching 58 passes for 538 yards and 4 TD's. His production started to decline and he's coming off the worst statistical year of his career, having caught just 18 passes for 192 yards and a single touchdown.

Rivera's production went down around the same time the Raiders drafted Clive Walford and brought in blocking TE Lee Smith. Smith would do all the blocking, Walford would do the catching and Rivera was the odd man out. Unfortunately for Rivera, he's not a very good blocker and with Jack Del Rio, you have to block if you want to play.

He's definitely got some talent as a pass catcher, but he offers little to nothing in the blocking game.
