Austin Seferian-Jenkins Suspended for Two Games by NFL

NFL: New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Jets tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been suspended two games by the NFL.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins of the New York Jets has been suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2017 regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

Seferian-Jenkins is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.

This suspension was the result of his DUI arrest last autumn, which led Tampa Bay to waive him. The Jets claimed him off waivers.

Despite the suspension, Sefarian-Jenkins will be allowed to participate in the preseason for the team.

The Jets have had the least productive group of tight ends in the league by a mile over the last few seasons. While people point the finger at Chan Gailey, the Jets haven’t had much in the way of talent at the position. Sefarian-Jenkins has a chance to claim a starting role and get his career on track after the suspension.
