Ian Rapoport says free agent linebacker Dont’a Hightower will probably make a decision on where he will sign today. The Jets, Steelers, and Patriots are all in the mix.
LB Dont'a Hightower is slated to make a call today: #Patriots, #Steelers or #Jets. Those involved expect he'll head home to NE. Stay tuned.

Through this whole process, reports have hinted that the Jets have always been at the fringes of the race to land Hightower. The only reason they seem to even be on the fringes is how persistent they have been.
Reports indicate the Jets have made Hightower a big offer, more than the other competitors for his services. Part of that is because the Jets are not as attractive of a destination as the other two who competed for the AFC Championship back in January.
The Jets’ offer is so large that it borders on imprudent. If it is not too much money for a linebacker with Hightower, it is certainly close to that threshold.
Either way, it will be good to have some sort of conclusion today so the Jets can plan the rest of their offseason.
