Expectation is that former #Jets + current FA quarterback Geno Smith will visit with #Giants today, per sources.#NYG

Others followed with more details.
I'm told that Geno Smith is slated to just meet with the coaches and execs at this time. No workout was planned, at this time. #Giants

The Giants are in the market for a backup quarterback so it makes sense for them to at least take a look at Geno.
You get the impression this is a preliminary visit rather than an indication a contract offer is imminent. Complicating matters is the fact Geno is coming off a serious injury. It is not just about his ability to be ready for the start of training camp. Any sort of signing would have to be preceded by medical examinations to make sure his recovery from the torn ACL is going well.
Multiple reports indicate the Jets could consider bringing Smith back into the fold, although he seems like more of a fallback option than a primary target. They have had plenty of time to make an offer if he was a priority.
