Pennel signed with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State-Pueblo in 2014. He lasted three years with the organization before being let go back in January. It is worth noting that Pennel had two separate four game suspensions in 2016 due to separate violations of the league’s substance abuse policy. The first suspension came for the first four games of the season. The second took him out of the last four games of the season.
SB Nation’s Acme Packing Company had the following to say about Pennel’s 2016.
Pennel’s eight-game 2016 season was not full of impact plays, but rather valuable rotational snaps on the Packers’ interior line. He recorded seven total tackles this season, including a big tackle for loss on Sunday against the Texans, and added a pass deflection.
