Positives
- Would suit a west coast offense that the Jets will run in 2017.
- Has excellent body control, makes good adjustments on the ball.
- Perfect size for the position and has plenty of length too.
- Catches the ball away from his body and high points it.
- Really knows how to use his body to box out defenders.
- Long strider who's not a burner, but who can challenge deep.
- Physical in his routes once he gets going, tough on smaller corners when running.
- Makes some eye opening plays.
- Fights for yards after contact and has the strength to avoid arm tackles.
- Doesn't mind working over the middle and catches the ball in traffic.
Negatives
- Pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault on a male while at Washington. Click here to read the circumstances around that arrest.
- He was arrested again in 2015 for disorderly conduct. You can read about that right here.
- Doesn't explode off the line
- Don't see much effort when it comes to blocking for team mates. He has the talent and strength to do it, he just doesn't do it consistently.
- Little slow to get in and out of his breaks, rounds them off instead of sharp cutting.
- Doesn't use his hands to help him get off the line.
- Saw a fair few instances where he pushed off, that'll get called at the NFL Level.
- Doesn't always make all the catches that he's capable of.
Conclusion
This is such a hard one to call. Stringfellow has the size, he has the talent and he has the strength to not only compete but become a very solid starter at the next level. However any team taking him will need to seriously look into his character. I don't just mean the arrests, I mean his commitment as well. Some games he'll look like a first rounder, then the next game he'll look like a 7th round guy that can't be bothered.
There are some things he'll need to clear up, consistent effort in all facets of the game is the first thing. 2nd, he'll need to look at getting in and out of his breaks with more urgency, NFL corners will be all over you if you round off your cuts. 3rd, is getting off the line a little quicker and using his hands to swat away press coverage.
I like Stringfellow a lot more than most people. I like his size, I like his length and he could be an exceptional talent for his predicted draft position (between 4th-7th rounds), but his value will vary from team to team, and the interview process will be key. Don't look for him at the combine, due to his arrests...he hasn't been invited.
Draft Round Prediction: 5th Round
