Last week, I asked which Chief Jets fans would most want, and outside linebacker Justin Houston narrowly won the vote. Ironically, he was far less productive than other popular choices like Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Alex Smith.
Now that quite a few of these polls are in the books, a bit of a theme has emerged over the past few weeks. The winners have tended not to fare well in their outings against the Jets. Do we have a curse brewing?
Chiefs winner - Justin Houston - 0 tackles, 0 sacks
Panthers winner - Cam Newton - 11/28, 168 yards, 0 TD, 3 sacks, 59.8 quarterback rating
Buccaneers winner - Mike Evans - Missed game
Bills winner - Tre’Davious White -
At any rate, the Denver Broncos are set to host the Jets this week. Which Bronco would you most want?
I don’t think I’d hesitate in my selection of Von Miller (28). He’s one of the most destructive pass rushers in the NFL, and as mentioned when I selected Houston last week, the Jets have missed that presence for a long time. Miller has 9.0 sacks this season in a “down” year.
Corner Chris Harris would be my #2 choice. Aqib Talib is in the same boat production wise, but is 31 (and a headcase).
There is very little to like about the Denver offense. C.J. Anderson is decent, but can’t compete with Denver’s elite defenders. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are both 30 and have probably left their best years behind.
Miller is my pick. Who gets yours? After this week’s game, is cornerback a more pressing need for the Jets in your mind?
