The New York Jets have placed running backs Matt Forte (knee) and Akeem Judd (ankle) on the injured reserve list. This may well mean the end of Forte’s Jets career, as the Jets will probably consider cutting him in the off-season. This brings the total number of Jets players on injured reserve in 2017 to 17. For Judd this represents a bitter blow, as an ankle injury prevents him from seeing his first NFL action in place of the injured Forte on Sunday.

The Jets replaced the two injured players on the 53 man roster by activating running back Jahad Thomas and wide receiver/returner Lucky Whitehead from the practice squad. The activation of Whitehead may mean the beginning of the end for struggling returner JoJo Natson.

The Jets also signed wide receiver Dan Williams to the practice squad. Williams is a 22 year old, 6’ 2”, 234 pound receiver/ h-back. Physically he is a near clone of Quincy Enunwa, with almost identical height, weight and speed. Williams was undrafted in 2017 out of Jacksonville State University, where he was the school’s all time leading receiver. Williams had a total of 2497 yards and 19 touchdowns on 184 receptions in his four years at Jacksonville State.
