Sunday Night Football, Week 13. December football and the playoff picture is starting to crystallize. Tonight the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles make the long trip west to CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington to take on the 7-4 Seattle Seahawks in a battle of what may be two NFC playoff teams in 2017.
The Eagles come into the game with the best record in football, winners of nine straight. The Eagles are led by MVP candidate Carson Wentz at quarterback and feature the NFL's 3rd best offense and 6th best defense. The Eagles have had the good fortune of facing only two teams all year with a current winning record, and have gone 1-1 in those games, so there still may be some questions as to just how good this Eagles team is.
The Seahawks come into this game fighting for their playoff lives, currently tied for 6th in the NFC with a 7-4 record. The vaunted Seahawks defense has been devastated with season ending injuries to stars Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Cliff Avril, and they are no longer the elite defense they have been for the better part of the last decade. The Seahawks' fortunes now largely rely on the talents of quarterback Russell Wilson, and he has responded with the most prolific year of his career, personally accounting for more than 310 yards of offense per game.
This game has major playoff implications for both teams, as the Eagles strive for the number one seed in the NFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and the Seahawks look to keep pace for the sixth and final playoff spot in the NFC.
It's the Eagles and the Seahawks on Sunday Night.
