How does Pro Football Focus Grade the Jets Roster?

Pro Football Focus takes some heat for its grading system, but it is a unique take on player performance that usually represents player performance much more accurately than the box score or an “eye test” accrued from sporadically focusing on a player during TV viewings. So, let’s take a look at how PFF thinks of some of the Jets’ biggest role players.

Listed is the player’s overall grade out of 100 and their rank at their position.

OFFENSE

Robby Anderson, WR - 78.3, 32nd

Bilal Powell, RB - 77.2, 28th

Josh McCown, QB - 77.1, 23rd

Jermaine Kearse, WR - 74.9, 45th

Jeremy Kerley, WR - 73.6, 53rd

Elijah McGuire, RB - 72.6, 33rd

Kelvin Beachum, LT - 71.6, 37th (Tackle)

Brandon Shell, RT - 65.3, 45th (Tackle)

Matt Forte, RB - 57.4, 49th

Dakota Dozier, G - 54.2, Unranked

ArDarius Stewart, WR - 51.5, Unranked

Eric Tomlinson, TE - 49.7, 37th

Chad Hansen, WR - 49.4, 89th

Brent Qvale, T - 49.1, 62nd

Bryce Petty, QB - 47.8, Unranked

Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE - 47.6, 44th

James Carpenter, LG - 41.5, 61st (Guard)

Lawrence Thomas, FB - 41.4, 14th

Jonotthan Harrison, C - 39.4, Unranked

Brian Winters, RG - 36.9, 76th (Guard)

Wesley Johnson, C - 32.5, 35th

DEFENSE

Demario Davis, LB - 85.4, 9th

Leonard Williams, DT - 84.9, 20th Interior DL

Steve McLendon, DT - 83.2, 32nd Interior DL

Muhammad Wilkerson, DE - 79.8, 50th Interior DL

David Bass, OLB - 79.1, 43rd Edge

Jamal Adams, S - 77.5, 43rd

Josh Martin, OLB - 76.2, 53rd Edge

Terrence Brooks, S - 75.3, Unranked

Kony Ealy, DE - 74.5, 59th Edge

Jordan Jenkins, OLB - 73.0, 67th Edge

Darryl Roberts, CB - 72.8, 76th

Mike Pennel, DT - 72.3, 88th Interior DL

Buster Skrine, CB - 72.3, 78th

Marcus Maye, S - 70.0, 63rd

Morris Claiborne, CB - 44.5, 103rd

Juston Burris, CB - 42.5, 110th

Darron Lee, LB - 38.0, 84th

I think Marcus Maye is the most underrated player on the list. He has made a few more mistakes in recent weeks, but I think his consistency and positioning throughout the year make him far better than 63rd at his position. I think he would be an upgrade as a starter for many teams.

Muhammad Wilkerson is highly overrated on here. You can’t tell me Mo played like a top 50 defensive lineman this year, even though that in and of itself is an unimpressive title. He had a couple breakout games mid-year where he looked like the Mo of old, but other than that was completely invisible and lacking in pure effort to make an impact like the grade portray.

Do you mostly agree with the rankings? Mostly disagree? Whose grades stand out to you?
