The Jets lost 14-7 on Sunday to the Los Angeles Chargers. The defeat dropped New York to 5-10 in the 2017 season.

The events of Week 16 have helped the Jets in their Draft positioning. After entering the weekend owning the 10th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Jets would find themselves with the 8th selection if the season ended right now. The Jets got some help. The Bears beat the Browns on Sunday, and the Bengals beat the Lions. These games when coupled with the Jets’ loss allowed New York to pass Chicago and Cincinnati in Draft position.

The Jets are currently tied with Denver and San Francisco at 5-10, but those teams currently win the tiebreaker, giving them picks 6 and 7. The Jets are half a game “behind” Houston and a full game “behind” Tampa Bay for the 4th pick in the 2018 Draft.

The current Draft order is below.

  1. Browns 0-15
  2. Giants 2-13
  3. Colts 3-12
  4. Buccaneers 4-11
  5. Browns (from Texans) 4-10
  6. Broncos 5-10
  7. 49ers 5-10
  8. Jets 5-10
  9. Bears 5-10
  10. Bengals 6-9
