Though the score wasn't exactly ideal, there were a few really good performances here. Though I'm no huge fan of McCown, there's a decent chance that the Jets could have won this with him as the starter. Despite the 31 points allowed, I give a lot of credit to the defense.
Bronze Star: S Jamal Adams (8 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 forced fumble)
This was the kind of game fans have been expecting from Adams since he was chosen with the #6 pick of the 2017 draft. Adams has been very good for a rookie, but some have been understandably disappointed by when they see the success of later picks in the draft such as Lattimore or Watson. Adams flashed his potential again in this game, however, showing off his range and instincts while laying the lumber to force a key fumble with the help of Buster Skrine. Adams looks to have a bright future and although his rookie season has been overshadowed by others, he has still shown enough to prove that he could be a stud on the back end in the coming years.
Silver Star: DL Leonard Williams (5 tackles, 1 PD, 1 INT)
Leonard Williams was absolutely terrorizing the Saints before he was forced out of the game by a concussion. His interception was quite impressive, but he also showed great awareness and performed well against the run against arguably the best backfield tandem in decades. He was a big part of keeping the game close in the first half and although he hasn't strung together as many dominant games as most had hoped, he's definitely in the conversation for the Jets MVP award this year.
Gold: CB Buster Skrine (5 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 PD, 1 forced fumble)
Say what you want about Skrine, but he's been on fire this month. His game against the Saints was extremely impressive as he mostly shut down his side of the field while also contributing on two forced fumbles, one of which he personally jarred loose and recovered. This was one of the best performances by a single Jet this season and he absolutely deserves the top prize this week.
