Jets head coach Todd Bowles announced today Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson will not travel to New Orleans with the team for Sunday’s game against the Saints.
Todd Bowles on DL Muhammad Wilkerson: "It's a coach's decision. He won't be making the trip. He's not playing.' #NYJvsNO

Wilkerson was benched for a quarter against the Chiefs a few weeks ago for lateness to a meeting. Connor Hughes reports it happened again, which led to this.
Source: #Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson showed up late to a team meeting today, I’m told. That’s why he’s benched.

Lateness, tardiness, nothing new for Wilkerson this year: https://t.co/TIty6rnlER
Needless to say, Wilkerson’s contract last season has turned into one of the worst in team history, which is saying something. In addition to being a nonfactor on the field for most of its duration, this is the third time Wilkerson has been disciplined in the last two years because he cannot be bothered to get to meetings on time.
Even with a large $9 million dead money hit, there is little doubt the Jets will cut him.
The saddest part of this episode is that taking Wilkerson off the field probably doesn’t even reduce the Jets’ chances of beating the Saints.
