Jeremy Kerley isn’t guaranteed his old role even though his suspension is over

NFL: New England Patriots at New York Jets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley has served his full four game suspension. Todd Bowles is not committing to giving back Kerley the role he held before the suspension, though.

On if Jeremy Kerley will return to the role he held before his suspension…

There are things we’re still discussing. We haven’t come up with that answer yet.

On if Kerley will return to the team on Wednesday…

There are things that we have to discuss that we haven’t made decisions on yet. I’ll let you guys know on Wednesday.

Part of the calculus here might be the team’s current position in the standings. At 5-8, the Jets remain mathematically alive for the postseason, but a Playoff spot is now a longshot. It might be worth letting younger receivers continue to get experience.

In any event, Kerley wasn’t that productive when he was in the lineup this year. He is averaging under 3 catches and 30 yards per game so far.
