MNF: Patriots vs Dolphins Game Thread

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Monday Night Football, Week 14. In an AFC East matchup the 10-2 New England Patriots take their talents to South Beach to take on the 5-7 Miami Dolphins.

The defending Super Bowl champion Patriots come into this game red hot, winners of eight straight. The last time any opponent came within seven points of the Patriots was way back in Week 6 when the New York Jets played the defending champs tough. With future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady playing as well as he ever has and the Patriots' early season defensive struggles a distant memory, the Evil Empire seems poised for yet another Super Bowl run. However, injuries have been mounting for the Patriots, star tight end Rob Gronkowski will miss the game due to a suspension, and Brady has at times struggled in Miami, so perhaps the Dolphins have a fighting chance.

The Miami Dolphins come into the game losers of five of their last six games, including a 35-17 pasting by the Patriots just two weeks ago. The Dolphins feature one of the worst offenses in the NFL, unable to pass or run the ball effectively. They have an average defense, which appears on paper to be no match for the high powered Patriots' attack. Nonetheless it's a home game for the Men of Teal, in a place where Brady has at times had his problems. Perhaps that will be enough for the Dolphins to pull off a stunning upset and keep their waning playoff hopes alive.

It's the Patriots and the Dolphins in a Monday Night AFC East showdown.
