Jets quarterback Josh McCown was knocked out of today’s loss to the Denver Broncos twice. The second time he left, he did not return. It was apparently a break of his non-throwing hand.
#Jets QB Josh McCown suffered a broken left hand, according to coach Todd Bowles. The team is not sure if this ends his season.

Even though the Jets aren’t making a definitive statement here, it is difficult to envision McCown playing again this year. There are only three weeks left in the season. Broken hands typically take longer to heal.
At 5-8, the Jets have either reached or are about to reach the transition into evaluation time. With the Playoffs likely gone, this would be a good time to get Bryce Petty some experience anyway.
Petty didn’t look very good in his limited action today, but he was thrown into a hopeless game. It makes sense to give him a look after getting to practice with the first team to get a better idea of what he can and cannot do right now.
