Jordan Jenkins Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

NFL: Buffalo Bills at New York Jets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Jets outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Thursday’s win over the Buffalo Bills.

Second-year outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Jenkins recorded his first two sacks of the season, one of which knocked the ball loose from Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor and was scooped up by inside linebacker Demario Davis. Additionally, he tallied three tackles, two of which were for loss and two quarterback hits in the Jets’ 34-21 win.

“Not going to lie, it felt good,” Jenkins said of his performance that accounted for two of the team’s seven-sack performance. “We had fun out there. Right from the get-go, getting that first one, it was back-to-back.”

Jenkins is the second Jet to take this honor in 2017. Safety Terrence Brooks was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 3 after recording a pair of interceptions against Miami.
