The Jets did not substitute as much as they usually do on defense in Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. Nine defenders played at least 85% of the snaps, seven played at least 90%, and four never came off the field.
The four to play all 71 snaps were linebackers Darron Lee and Demario Davis and safeties Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams.
Particularly notable was Muhammad Wilkerson playing 65 snaps, 92% in all. It was Wilkerson’s second highest aggregate snap total of the season. Only the 68 he played Week 1 against the Bills was higher. Perhaps this is a sign he is starting to feel better. The former star defensive lineman has been battling injuries all season long, which has limited him at practice. The bye week is a good time to heal up. Of course, Wilkerson did not make a big impact even with the increased playing time.
