One thing sticks out when looking at the offensive snap totals for the Jets in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers. They went into the game with a plan to get big on offense.
No wide receiver on the team played more than 83% of the snaps. Number three wide receiver for the game Chad Hansen was on the field for less than half the snaps. Fullback Lawrence Thomas had a season-high 23 snaps, which meant he was on the field for 33% of the offensive plays in this game. Thomas’ previous high was 14 snaps, which was 22% against Miami Week 3. Even sixth offensive lineman Brent Qvale was in for 13 snaps, which was 19% total.
John Morton likes to change his attack a lot from week to week. In this game he clearly wanted to get big up front and maul the Panthers. You can decide how well it worked.
