Lorenzo Mauldin won’t face prosecution over alleged nightclub incident

NFL: New York Jets at Cleveland Browns Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Jets outside linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin was arrested on assault charges back in June over an alleged incident April 2 at a New York nightclub. The Manhattan District Attorney will not pursue the case, however, according to the New York Post.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute Jets linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin for allegedly pummeling a man who accidentally spilled champagne on him nearly eight months ago.

“I want to thank everyone who stood behind me,” Mauldin told The Post. “I was fortunate to have the resources to fight the case and clear my name when, too often, others don’t.”

He added, “I’m glad this is behind me so I can focus on football and the future.”

Mauldin has been on injured reserve for the entire regular season with a back injury. He is not expected to play this season.

The 2015 third round pick out of Louisville has just 6.5 sacks in the NFL.
