The Jets entered their Week 11 bye in 10th place in the AFC standings. Simply not playing apparently did the team some good. After the week off, New York has moved into 9th place in the conference.
Although they are losers of 4 of their last 5, they are only a single game out of the 6th and final Playoff spot in the AFC.
This is part of a huge logjam. The Ravens and Bills are currently tied for the 6th spot at 5-5. The Jets are 4-6 along with Miami, Cincinnati, Houston, Los Angeles, and Oakland. Indianapolis and Denver are one game behind this group at 3-7. Only Cleveland at 0-10 is outside shouting distance in the conference.
The Jets aren’t a particularly good team, but neither are these teams they are competing against. The AFC looks like it is going to have a mediocre team make the Playoffs this year.
Current standings are below.
- Pittsburgh 8-2
- New England 8-2
- Jacksonville 7-3
- Kansas City 6-4
- Tennessee 6-4
- Baltimore 5-5
- Buffalo 5-5
- Miami 4-6
- Jets 4-6
- Cincinnati 4-6
- Houston 4-6
- Los Angeles 4-6
- Oakland 4-6
- Indianapolis 3-7
- Denver 3-7
- Cleveland 0-10
