Who Are Josh McCown’s Most Effective Targets?

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

To provide a better idea of which receivers Josh McCown is generating chemistry with, here are some statistics broken down by target.

The full statistical picture is necessary. You might notice the low completion percentage throwing to Robby Anderson, but deep passes are completed at a lower rate than short passes. The question is efficiency, and Anderson’s targets fare well averaging a robust 8.5 yards per attempt.

Anderson and Jermaine Kearse are McCown’s top two targets so far, accounting for 42% of the targets on the team. Jeremy Kerley, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, and Bilal Powell are among the second tier of frequent McCown targets.

It will be interesting to monitor this and see how the frequency and quality of targets fluctuates as we get deeper into the 2017 NFL season.

As always, these calculations were done by hand so apologies for any errors, although every attempt has been made to avoid them.
