A two game losing streak has the Jets falling in this week’s NFL power rankings. Although they are on the way down, the team is still not on the bottom of the league the way it was at the start of the season.

Even after the Jets won three straight games, their chances to win the division were only 0.3 percent, according to FPI. Blowing a 14-point, fourth-quarter lead with minus-4 yards of offense against the Dolphins might've well ended any playoff hopes for the Jets.

A healthy lead against the Dolphins disappeared on Sunday and the Jets fell below .500. Still, Coach Todd Bowles deserves plenty of credit for the job that he has done keeping this team competitive. The roster simply is not very good, but the accusations that the Jets were tanking the season may have been overstated. Still, they weren’t based on nothing.

Although the Jets have been way better than anyone expected, this season should still be about finding building blocks for the future. They’ve found a nice tight end in Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who talked about turning his life around this offseason and it has shown on the field. He has 26 catches and three touchdowns in five games. He doesn’t have many yards, with just 173, but it’s still a promising start to the season. He’s a former second-round pick and is just 25 years old.
