Pro Football Focus is out with some interesting rankings of all 32 NFL defenses. According to PFF, through the first six games of the 2017 NFL season the New York Jets have been the worst defensive team in football, and Darron Lee has been the NFL’s worst defensive starter. Of course PFF also rated the New England Patriots the league’s 15th best defense, a puzzling rating for a defense which is last in the NFL in yards allowed, yards per game, yards per play, passing yards allowed, passing yards per game, passing touchdowns allowed, net passing yards per attempt, and expected defensive points contributed.
Here is what PFF had to say about the Jets defense:
32. NEW YORK JETS
BEST-GRADED STARTER: Kony Ealy, Edge, 82.4
WORST-GRADED: Darron Lee, LB, 31.9
When the team’s best player is struggling (Leonard Williams), you know things are not going well. Williams and Wilkerson have turned what should have been the team’s strength into a weakness, with their front unable to stand up to teams in the run or pass game. There has been some talent in the secondary, but the front seven hasn’t been able to protect them nearly enough.
What do you think? Do the Jets have the worst defense in the NFL? Is Darron Lee the worst defensive starter in the NFL? Let us know your thoughts.
