NY Jets: Muhammad Wilkerson Dealing With Toe Injury

NFL: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Muhammad Wilkerson is dealing with a toe injury and has not practiced this week. This casts into doubt Wilkerson’s availability for the New York Jets game against the New England Patriots this Sunday.

This is not the first time Wilkerson has been sidelined with a toe injury. Wilkerson has missed only four games due to injury in his career. Three of those four came in the 2014 season when he was sidelined with a case of turf toe.

The Jets have not disclosed the nature of Wilkerson’s toe injury, nor have they disclosed whether or not it might require surgery. The latest Wilkerson injury comes at a poor time for the Jets. If it sidelines Wilkerson for multiple weeks like in 2014 he will be running up against the trade deadline. What little chance the Jets might have of moving Wilkerson before the deadline would evaporate completely if he were still out at the deadline.
