Mike Garofolo reports Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo is a candidate for the open Jets offensive coordinator job.
Jets have a few OC candidates in mind. Again, Eagles QB coach John DeFilippo expected to be among them.

It is kind of difficult for me to judge how good of a candidate DeFilippo would be. This year he was Carson Wentz’s position coach during an up and down year. The year before that, he was the Browns offensive coordinator. Cleveland’s offense was really bad, but DeFilippo had little talent to work with. The year before that he was Derek Carr’s position coach. Carr broke out after DeFilippo left, but again, there was little in the way of talent. He worked on Rex Ryan’s first staff with the Jets as an assistant position coach. Before that, he was JaMarcus Russell’s quarterbacks coach in Oakland. I don’t think you can blame him for Russell’s struggles, though.
If the Jets go in this direction, it would really come down to how much you trust Todd Bowles’ ability to find a good offensive coordinator.
Personally, I’d prefer to see the Jets go with somebody who has a bigger track record of success.
