There is surgery news on a couple of Jets starters. Todd Bowles revealed at his end of season press conference yesterday that Matt Forte has his knee scoped.
On if Matt Forté will undergo surgery for his torn meniscus…
Matt got scoped on Friday, so, he should be fine going forward from there.
On the length of Forté’s recovery…
I do not know yet.
On if Forté will be ready by spring…
I should hope so, yes.
On if Forté’s injury should have been addressed earlier…
It wasn’t bothering him early. He had it when he was in Chicago. It was something that he had. It started lingering. You can play with those things or it can become real painful.
In other news, Rich Cimini reports Breno Giacomini will also be going under the knife.
Jets RT Breno Giacomini told me he will have back surgery on Wednesday to shave down a herniated disc. Four-month recovery.
Giacomini only played five games for the Jets in 2016 due to back issues. In his place, a pair of scrap heap signings and a rookie fifth rounder didn’t perform any worse at the very least. Considering the Jets could have cut Giacomini a year ago to help with their tight cap situation, his $5.6 million cap number was one of the biggest monuments to inefficient spending on a roster full of them.
