Morton has emerged quickly on the Jets’ radar at least publicly.
Former Texans offensive coordinator George Godsey is the other name that has been floated this week. We haven’t heard much about Chiefs co-offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, but asking Nagy to leave a pretty good situation in Kansas City might be a tough sell.
I couldn’t tell you how good of a coordinator Morton would be. I don’t think anybody could. I do think this is the type of candidate the Jets should be targeting, though. He has a fairly impressive resume and has worked until a number of bright offensive minds. He also might be looking to make a move to advance his career, and the Saints have a long-time entrenched coordinator blocking an internal path to one of those jobs.
