The Jets have reportedly made another hire on their coaching staff.
Source tells @sn_nfl that @nyjets have hired former @Browns defensive line coach Robert Nunn for the same position.
— Alex Marvez (@alexmarvez) January 20, 2017
Nunn worked on Hue Jackson’s staff in Cleveland in 2016 but was let go after the season. Before Cleveland, he worked under Tom Coughlin as Giants defensive line coach from 2010 through 2015, which included a Super Bowl title in 2011 to coincide with Jason Pierre-Paul’s breakout year. Prior to that, Nunn had stops in Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Miami, and Washington in addition to over a decade of work at the college level.
I’m not sure you can say this about many positions on the Jets’ coaching staff, but the defensive line job is a pretty attractive one. Even if Sheldon Richardson is on the way out, there is plenty of talent to work with from the established (Leonard Williams), the bounceback candidate (Muhammad Wilkerson), and even the promising newcomer (Deon Simon).
We await official word from the Jets on this one. One prior coaching move this offseason was reported prematurely.
