Despite reports the Jets are likely to change their offensive coordinators, head coach Todd Bowles said he was not going to announce any changes just yet at his season-ending press conference.

On if Chan Gailey will be the offensive coordinator next year...

That’s something we have to meet with the coaches about. I haven’t met with the coaches yet to discuss. So, right now until we go through the process, everything’s as is. We’ll meet in the next couple days with everybody, and we’ll go over that as we see forward.

On if he wants Gailey to return as the offensive coordinator...

Again, we’ll discuss everything as we’ll go forward. I think Chan’s a hell of a coach. That’s why I hired in the first place. But going forward, me and him will sit down and have a private discussion, and we’ll go from there.

On his reason for declining to say that he wants Gailey to return...

I’m not going to comment on coaches or players until I meet with everybody during the week, and I owe them that respect. I owe that to everybody. I’m not going to sit here and talk to the media about coaches or players before I talk to coaches and players, and tell you guys something I don’t talk to them about. That’s probably not going to happen. So, you can agree or disagree.

On if he wants Coach Gailey to return...

I’m not going to comment on anything right now, telling you guys, that I’m not going to talk to the players or coaches. We can go round-and-round on this, but it’s not going to happen.

While Gailey still has his job at the moment, this certainly seems ominous. If you are dead set on keeping somebody, you tend to announce it immediately as the Jets did with Bowles and Mike Maccagnan shortly after Sunday’s game.

Maybe Gailey will ultimately survive, but at the very least the Jets seem to be considering making a change.
